Teaching & Learning

VH

Teaching and learning is at the centre of all that we do. It is our core purpose. Every action we take, day to day and longer term, is driven by the question: 'how will this affect teaching and learning'? Put simply, we want to be the best that we can be. Our goal is to be consistently outstanding. We set very high standards and we hold the highest possible expectations.

As a staff, we frequently reflect on the quality of teaching and learning, and we look at ways we can improve and develop our practice. Our Teaching for Learning Policy sums-up our approach - this is revisited annually and has evolved as the school has changed and developed.

All of our staff meetings are linked to developing teaching and learning. We provide a carefully organised programme of Professional Development for our staff, again focused on teaching and learning. We monitor and evaluate teaching and learning rigorously, so that ongoing improvements can be made. We have introduced an innovative 'Peer Observation' programme, so that our teachers can learn from each other. At GPS, Performance Management is used in a motivational way, to maintain our focus on developing teaching and learning.

To parents reading this page, be assured that your child's progress as a learner is our central concern. We want every child to feel happy, to be safe, to thrive and to reach their full potential at GPS. Our teachers are talented, professional, caring and are fully committed to the well-being and progress of each and every child.
