Introduction

  • Our School Improvement Plan (SIP) sums-up our main priorities for the year, across a number of key areas.
  • Our priorities match the needs of the school, because they are based on our on-going self-evaluation activities.
  • The overall aim is to enhance teaching and learning, and to continue to raise standards of pupil achievement.
  • Our SIP is a collaborative endeavour, involving discussion with staff and governors.

Our Current SIP Priorities (2025-26)

  • To increase standards in writing across school. A new Writing curriculum is in place, and a new spelling scheme has been implemented.
  • To increase the percentage of Reception children achieving their Early Learning Goal in Writing by the end of Reception. Daily handwriting sessions, spelling x2 per week, core books changed, new Writing curriculum introduced., links to phonics to be reviewed and strengthened
  • Improve Handwriting across school. Handwriting scheme in place and classes do 2/3 sessions per week. Daily handwriting practice in Reception. Regular monitoring to check impact.
  • Ensure that all pupils routinely deepen their ability to use and apply learning in mathematics by teaching children to successfully tackle open ended problem solving and reasoning tasks. Training for staff has taken place, and is in our staff meeting schedule for Autumn 2025 and Spring 2026.
  • To improve the assessment and tracking of SEND pupils, and thus accelerate progress and attainment.
  • To improve the outcomes of KS2 SEND children in reading and writing.
  • To reduce the number of statutory school age children who are persistently absent (below 90%).
  • To review and strengthen our approach to Online Safety.
  • To ensure that we support and integrate our new teachers, including our ECTs.
  • To develop our brand new Library, by refurbishing a repurposing a large room in the old Caretaker’s House. Ensure the new Library is well used, and that it becomes a key component of our drive to raise standards in Reading.
  • Refresh and strengthen our partnerships with parents in Early Years, looking at how we get parents engaged in their child’s learning.
